Waiting for class to start

Sitting by the top of the stairs, waiting for the class to start, a Gryffindor-girl could be seen turning one page back and forth, before sighing and digging around in her bag. A stupid idea of hers maybe, but if the book said it worked…
Never had she imagined that the whole idea of picking petals off a flower and rant the “Loves me, loves me not” would actually be in there… but once she got the idea she had to check. And it even contained the instruction to use an oxeye daisy! Lucky for her she could get some from the potions-ingredients-locker… (After reading about the alternative “She/He loves me, She/He loves me lots” she had to get at least two, just for good luck…)

Carefully listening down the stair if someone from her class would be on their way up and bust her Freya then carefully began picking the petals off the dry flower, praying she wouldn’t get caught doing something this girly and embarrassing!

Lex let out a heavy sigh as he made his way to his next class. Divinations was one of his least favorite subject but he still needed to learn about it just in case. As he walked up the stairs, he could hear a familiar voice muttering something he couldn't comprehend at first. Curious, he stepped up as quietly as possible then noticed the girl that had been in his mind for a couple of days now plucking one petal after another. "What are you doing?" he inquired with a raised eyebrow.

“Nothing!” a too quick answer and a small blush as she hid the flower under the book. Really, why did he have to show up, and now of all times?!

"Well, aren't you jumpy," Lex muttered as he continued to walk up the stairs til he reached the top.

“That’s what you get when you sneak up on people like that!” quickly getting a piece of parchment, only filled with doodle from the boring lesson this morning, from her back Freya crumbled it up into a ball and threw it at the back of his head, pleased with herself when she hit him

"Your reaction says it's something," Lex muttered as he turned and picked up the crumpled paper.

“Well, maybe it is, but nothing for anyone else to bother with!” Oh wouldn’t it be great if he found out! He’d be laughing like never before at her! How stupid she’d been to even think about this!
On top of that he'd most likely now see her stupid doodles... Why couldn't she ever think at least once before! Nothing of what she did was cute enough to be liked as a girl!

The Slytherin's lips curled up slightly in amusement as he stared at her doodles, "so many comments come to mind, I don't know where to start."

“Oh, give that back!” getting up, not minding that the book fell down a few steps in the stair nor that the petals, that had fallen down into her lap when she tore them off the flower, rained down around her Freya hurried up to snatch the parchment back, only to find herself with only a part of it, ripped away from the piece that was still in Lex’s hand…

"That was a waste," Lex mumbled as he stared at the piece of ripped paper in his hand then gave it back to Freya, "here."

Quietly accepting it and once again crumbling it into a small ball, as she would call it nothing but junk and now embarrassing such, Freya just waited for the rest of his teasing to come as she marched back down the stair to pick up her book and start to look around for the flower she’d hidden under it. It wouldn’t exactly be great if he’d see it now…

Lex followed behind her and bent down to help her pick up the book but then noticed the flower. "Yours?" he mumbled as he picked it up.

Looking up and seeing that he’d found the stupid escaping flower Freya blushed again; now he could guess for sure what she had been doing… no use to deny it, there was no one else around!
“Well, yeah, it is… thanks.” Taking it back she eyed it, guessing it was a pretty useless thing by now…

Lex was silent for a moment as he tried to piece everything together. He suspected something but let it go since he would rather not bring up another awkward moment by asking anything personal. "So, you were torturing this flower all along?" he feigned ignorance as he grinned slightly, "poor thing. Having someone pluck its petals one by one."

“Well, since it deserved it, yes I did!” Not the best excuse, but it would have to do. Joking away this might save her somewhat (it had worked before!)

Lex let out a soft chuckled, "not a fan of this kind of flowers I take it?"

“No, not really. On top of it all it has the never to look dead!” To be specific it might have been dried, but that wasn’t really important. Now she couldn’t help but to grin at him, again having fun with non-important things

"It's not really it's fault if it looks dead," Lex chuckled then asked out of curiosity, "what kind of flower do you prefer then? They all usually end up like this sooner or later."

Now she actually had to think for a moment, it was quite some time ago someone had asked her last time (and that time it had been her grandmother, asking while they were picking them during the summer)
“Lily of the Valley… I think…” She then had to laugh again “I’m sorry, I don’t know. I’m hardly the one who receives such things on a regular basis.”

"Lilies, huh," Lex muttered as he mused, "I always thought girls prefer roses."

“No way, lilies smell nicer. And people make way too big matters out of roses, who are just full of thorns in the end.” In all honesty she had never liked roses, not even before she had tried to learn to ride her bike in her grandmother’s garden and found one of the bushes to be straight in her way…

"You have a point there," Lex nodded, "a relative of mine once mentioned that she finds roses to be too....unsubtle for her taste."

Freya only chuckled at the idea “No, subtle they aren’t… Are you trying to use this to come up with something else to give her? I say you should ask what she wants herself first.”

"She prefers Lilies too. Well, Tiger Lilies to be specific," Lex informed Freya.

“Well, go on and give them to her then, what’s the problem?” He could send flowers to all the girls in the castle, she didn’t care! She really did not! … well, at least she didn’t want to…
