You Don't Always Win

Aside from a ghost passing through Freya, she was greatly unhindered in her way back to Gryffindor tower...

giving the password (which she could finally do without giggling at it) the Gryffindor could finally climb through the portrait-hole and be 'home'. All she wanted now was to sink down into one of the armchairs and just sit there in front of the fire...

"Blimey, thought you'd sneak away a half hour earlier." Set yawned and waved at her lazily, "Welcome back to the den Williams."

kicking lightly at her housemate's leg when passing by him and then sinking down into one of the cozy armchairs Freya made a face at him
"Then do concider the time it took to get here, and the fact that the horniest healer in the world decides to work just as I'm trying to get out!"

Set pretended to wince and scold his peer, though a glint behind his bangs (on his eyes, to be exact) showed his thoughts were anything but serious. "The horniest? Guess there's always some quirk about the people high up." He kept his laughter and chuckles quiet, knowing it was still very early for some of their dorm mates.

Actually, it'd be their whole house. But oh well.

"Yeah, so let's make sure we stay close to the bottom, so we can stay sane, okay?"
Even if her housemate tried to scolder her Freya knew better than to listen. Oh well, at least she could try to make him talk, while she got comfortable...
"Heard anything about the other house-teams yet? Is Wong going for anyhting but boasting?"

"Pft, my cousin's been more than distracted with another girlfriend." He snickered, it wasn't much of a secret. But he added, "She's our year, actually." with some surprise.

"Really? So... he'll turn 18 before her and then turn into a pedophile? Oh well, bet he's happy as long as he's got a bedwarmer." It was almost unfair how little some people could settle with to be happy...

"Guess so." Set closed his eyes, though it wasn't visible to the other girl, "Dunno if they're sleeping with each other or not, wouldn't surprise me if they weren't though."

"HA! As if anyone at our age who gets a chance wouldn't got for it! Neither Wong or that little blondie seems to be shy about things, guess worm-snakes like their own kind..."
Anyone given the chance... that should be right about that Maximiliam to then, right? Was that really all he wanted...? Huffing at her own idea, and how stupid he was then, Freya only glared at the fireplace

"Nah, she's gotta touch phobia or something similar. Took Wong years to get her used to a hug." Whether Set had noticed Freya's glare or hadn't was left unsaid. Some people were left to their own opinion.

"And he kept up with it? Hn, Wong seemed mor like the 'sleep with anyone, skirts or pants'-dude to me. Maybe a bludger knocked the brain up to his head for him..."
So that little blondie who had happily acted like any other bitch the few times they met actaully got someone who liked her? The world really was wierd...

"It's taken a few years, either way."

((she had, or at least, Ares knocked up a veela NPC last year and she died in childbirth. Reason why Prof Wong is proposing we EXPEL pregnant students. Hogwarts has a reputation to uphold ene; ))

"Guess he expects it to be worth it then." But then she got another thought
"Say, since you're a guy you can tell me; how important is a good look on a girl?" She knew for sure she could enver get even close to blond little cuties, or nice and kind sweets, or even girly ones...

((well, I agree with him on that one! It was a bit creepy how many students that turned out to get pregnant by the end... (That's not even normal if you ask me!))

"Hm? Uh..." He blinked slowly, if there was anything his sister in Ravenclaw taught him about the opposite sex: THIS WAS A LOADED QUESTION. "It's important.......enough...like.......you wouldn't want to be with someone ugly, right.............? Everyone has some kind of.....standard...so...yeah."

That sounded better in his head. Without the pauses.

Looking at her fellow housemate Freya had to fight down her will to make an ugly face at him "You're really not saying anything at all. Just answer the damn question."

He shrugged, "It's good to have good looks, but it's so... subjective, yeah, that's the word."

A moment of awkward silence.

"I wouldn't call you ugly though, Williams."

blushing Freya only stared at him
"I-I didn't ask for that!" Really, where did that come from?! Not that it wasn't good to know, but... really!

"Wasn't that what you were asking?" He couldn't stop the cheeky grin from showing, this was too funny!

"No! I asked if looks were important, wasn't that obvious?! If I wanted to know what I look like I could have checked a mirror! As if I'd want to know what I'm like today, after all that beating!!"
And what was that jerk grinning at?! Crossing her arms and looking away Freya only pouted at that she coudln't reach him from wher she was and that this chair was too comfortable to get up from...

"Fine fine..." He stifled a yawn, his eyes darted to glance at the grandfather clock inside the common room and it read 2AM. It was rather late (or early)...

too riled up by the uncomfortable turn of the topic Freya didn't even notice the time, and only grumbled
"I just asked how important looks were you know..."

"Yeah, but it's not the most important, you know."

She glanced over at him "So personality is, you say?"
Great, no guy who wasn't half-way to be gay would ever like whatever she was... Guess she'd have to live without it then. Getting rid of the bitter feeling of loneliness and jealousy was quite easy when one had quidditch, right?

"Could be. It depends on the guy and your own type, doesn't it?" He knew less about love than she did, why bother asking him?!
